Have you seen the new literacy coach? Her name is Mrs. Lori Kozlowski and it is her job to help other children with their reading. You might have seen her popping in and out of classrooms to meet with teachers.
Her job as a literacy coach keeps her very busy. She teaches the teachers to plan student’s level and instruction for reading. That means she meets with teachers in grade level meetings, works with new teachers, and observes lessons. Also she writes data reports to the district on this school.
Mrs. Kozlowski worked in many New Haven schools before coming to MASH. She taught kindergarten and grade 2 at Clarence Rogers and Katherine Brennan, and worked as a literacy coach at Beecher, Conte West Hills and Hill Central schools.
Mrs. Kozlowski’s aunt would tell her stories about her students she worked with. “We would play school with my chalkboard for hours and I would pretend to correct papers with my coloring books”.
After working with students at summer camps, she went to the University of Massachusetts to become a teacher.
She also has 2 more degrees a master degree from the university of New Haven and a 6th year degree from southern CT state university.
Mrs. Kozlowski loves her job, “because I like to work with teachers and helping kids to read well.”
