Meet Mauro Sheridan’s Furry Friends! Have you ever met the greatest creatures on earth?!
They are right here at Mauro-Sheridan!!
Did you know Mauro Sheridan breeds some of their own animals?
We interviewed Ms.Marra who is responsible for the animals in the school. Ms.Marra likes Pip squeak the turtle the best because “he has quite the personality, he is very curious, he never tries to bite me, and likes people.” “Children respond positively to animals. They help teach empathy, expose us to things we may never get to see, new creatures.”
5th grade Jaden Navarro’s favorite animal is the turtle near the front desk. 7th grade Efrencheli Ducos’s favorite animal is the tarantula.
When asked what they feed the animals Ms.Marra said “every animal’s diet is different according to what they would eat if they were in the wild.”
The school buys ALL the pets needs from Slither & Swim, because they have everything they need except fruit.
Ms.Marra never took ratio on the animal’s gender; each one would be easy to identify except the snake.
Mauro-Sheridan has bred cave spiders, frogs, and guppies.
Mauro-Sheridan doesn’t have many elderly animals. Fred the turtle is elderly and we are not sure how old Rosy the tarantula is.
Ms.Marra says “there are probably twenty full tanks of animals with more on the way. All animals must make criteria; they have to be healthy, not aggressive, and easy enough to take care of.
Ms.Marra says “The animals eat collard greens, dandelions, kale, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, and Swiss chard.”
Ms. Marra and Ms. Laka watch the animals during the summer.
Who’s YOUR favorite animal in the school now? The parrot fish? The Asian box turtle? The Diamondback Terrapin turtle maybe? Or the African cichlid’s fish? No matter your preference all the animals add a little special something to Mauro Sheridan.
