Hey, Mauro-Sheridan Students would you like to know about our new science teacher…. Ms. Smith!
She is from Milford, CT and her favorite hobby is running with her dog. WOOF! Her heroes are Albert Einstein and Charles Darwin. Plus in elementary school she watched Bill Nye Science Guy and liked science ever since.
For college she went to Southern Connecticut State University or SCSU. Ms. Smith had 5 jobs before she started teaching. She worked for the state of CT, taught at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, CT. Plus she taught at Early Child Education (for 18 months to 5 year old children). She was also a statewide manager for U-Haul and (The STINKIEST OF ALL) the Dog Kennel. She chose teaching because when “I was at the zoo I was standing at the otter habitat and telling people walking by about the otters and I thought I was pretty good at it and decided I could do it in a classroom.”
“I hope one of my students could be a future scientist.” Her mentors are Dr. Katherine Koehler and Dr. Jonathan Wenenbaum. Dr. Wenenbaum is a famous Paleontologist so she talks to him about science. And Dr. Koehler is a famous teacher who inspires her to keep thinking and learning.
So now you know more about Ms. Smith. Maybe you’ll be a famous scientist sharing the story about a great science teacher who inspired you!
