Ms. Donna DeMayo is the new Mauro-Sheridan librarian and her favorite book of all time is Jane Eyre.
She loves working with students and used to be a 12th grade English teacher at Danbury High School for 20 years. Ms. DeMayo became a librarian because she loves books and working with students.
“Back at Danbury High School, one of my seniors was not sure that he wanted to go to college,” Ms. DeMayo said. “I pushed him really hard and he got into Eastern and he is playing on the basketball team. He won the slam dunk contest.”
Ms. DeMayo grew up in CT and played soccer in high school. She went to University of Connecticut for her undergraduate degree and received a master’s in English education.
In her free time, she loves to cook, paint, and travel.
Although she likes her job, her least favorite part is shelving the books. Her favorite children’s book is The Day the Crayons Quit. She likes it because it is funny and creative, she said.
“I’m really excited to be here and work with students. It’s a beautiful library and my first job as a librarian.”
